Singapore Updates Technical Specification for Short-Range Devices
The Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has announced a significant update to the technical specifications for Short-range Radio-communication Devices (SRDs), effective from September 2023.
Key changes in the technical specifications:
Revised Maximum Field Strengths: - For 13.553-13.567 MHz, the maximum field strength has been changed from 94 dBμV/m at 10m to a maximum RF output power of 10mW (e.r.p.). - For 40.66-40.7 MHz, it's been revised from 65 dBμV/m at 10m to a maximum RF output power of 10mW (e.r.p.). - For 180.00-200.00 MHz, the specifications have shifted from 112dBuV/m at 10m to a maximum RF output power of 10mW and 50mW (e.r.p.).
New Frequency Bands Added: The IMDA has included new frequency bands: 122-123 GHz, 244-246 GHz, and 5.945 – 6.425 GHz.
Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration (ESER): With these amendments, SRDs that comply with the TS SRD requirements can now be registered under the Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration framework. This step is expected to streamline processes and facilitate smoother registrations.
Manufacturers and distributors of SRDs should take careful note of these updates to ensure compliance and leverage the advantages of the ESER system.
