The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) in Australia has issued the new Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Clothes Washing Machines) Determination 2024. The standard will take effect on October 5, 2025, replacing the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Clothes Washing Machines) Determination 2015.

The updated standard also focuses on performance criteria such as soil removal (wash performance), water extraction (spin performance), severity of washing action (clothes damage) and rinse performance. This helps to verify the quality and compliance of supplied products.
