Argentina Updates Procedure Of Mandatory Certification Of Batteries

On January 22, 2019, Argentine Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (SAyDS) issued Resolution 21/2019, which modified Resolution 14/2007. The document establishes uniform test methods for battery product certification, and make appropriate amendments to streamline the certification and reporting system.

According to the Resolution, certification bodies should provide monthly electronic reports to the central office, where records of cross-border movements are kept.

Annex 1 of this Resolution sets out a revised procedure for certification, testing, and sampling.

The number of samples required for testing depends on the model of battery s the following:

 

  • Button - 20  
  • Cylindrical/Prismatic - 30

Samples must be provided as separate units.

The applicant must present batteries for testing and a note in the form of a declaration with the following information:

 

  • Name  
  • Brand  
  • Model  
  • Origin  
  • Manufacturer  
  • Model of the battery it uses

The resolution came into force on January 25, 2019.
